Opening Folders and Albums

Using AlbumFiler is very simple:

  1. Open Photos.

  2. Invoke AlbumFiler by pressing the AlbumFiler Shortcut. By default, it is Command-9, but you can customize it in General Settings.

  3. Type a few characters of the album or folder you wish to search for.

  4. When the item you desire is shown at the top of the results list, press Enter or Return. If there are multiple matches, use the down arrow to select the correct item before hitting Return.

When you open an album or folder, you'll see focus switch over to Photos. If you have the Keep open after performing action preference checked, AlbumFiler will re-activate after opening the folder or album. Otherwise it will disappear, and you will have to invoke it again. Repeat the process above to continue seeing other albums or folders.

Wildcard Matching

Inserting a space character in the search field instructs AlbumFiler to perform a wildcard search. For instance, suppose you entered:

Peo Vi

This will match any albums or folders that contains those characters:

People/Victor Jackson

People/Vincent Young

Flowers/Peonies/Virginia

Master the use of the space character to quickly drill down to find the correct mailbox.

Search Restrictions

By default, AlbumFiler is set up to search the entire path for your albums and folders, but you can configure it to search only the name of the folder or album. You can also have it so AlbumFiler peforms a case-sensitive search.

You can change these settings in Search Settings.
